Certified, insured, and trusted across the DFW Metroplex since 2010.
DFW Chimney Specialist has been the trusted name in chimney sweep service across Dallas, Plano, Frisco, McKinney, and the surrounding DFW Metroplex since 2010. Our certified technicians follow the same NFPA 211 standards used by professional sweeps nationwide – removing creosote, soot, and debris from inside your chimney so your fireplace stays safe to use, season after season.
Whether you light up your fireplace every weekend through North Texas winters or only on the coldest nights, an annual chimney sweep is the single most important step you can take to protect your home and your family.
Pre-sweep visual check of firebox, damper, smoke chamber
Remove creosote, soot, and debris from flue
HEPA vacuum, drop cloths, leave home cleaner than found
Photo report with any recommended next steps
Every time you burn a fire, smoke and unburned particles travel up your flue and condense into a sticky, tar-like substance called creosote. Just 1/8 of an inch of creosote buildup is enough to ignite – and once it does, it burns at temperatures hot enough to crack masonry, damage flue liners, and spread fire into the structure of your home.
A professional chimney sweep removes that buildup before it becomes dangerous. It also clears soot, animal debris, leaves, and obstructions that can block your flue and push carbon monoxide back into your living space.

Our certified technicians arrive in marked vehicles, lay down protective drop cloths inside your home, and use professional dual-HEPA vacuum systems and rotary cleaning tools to leave your fireplace cleaner than we found it.

✓ Damper inspection and operation check
✓ Firebox sweeping and ash removal

Most homeowners don’t think about their chimney until something feels off. If you’ve noticed any of the following, it’s time to call us:
✓ Smoky or campfire smell when unused
✓ Black soot near firebox or walls
✓ Smoke pushing back into the room
✓ Fireplace harder to start, won’t draw
✓ Shiny black creosote glaze visible
✓ Animals or nesting in chimney
NFPA 211 recommends an annual inspection of every chimney, fireplace, and vent regardless of how often it’s used. For most DFW homeowners with a traditional wood-burning fireplace, that means scheduling a sweep once per year- typically in late summer or early fall, before the first cold front rolls through North Texas.
Heavy users (homeowners who burn multiple cords of wood per season) may need a sweep every six months. Gas log fireplaces still need annual inspections — even though they don’t produce creosote — because debris, soot, and animal nesting material can still obstruct the flue and the chimney cap.
If you can’t remember the last time your chimney was professionally cleaned, it’s time. Schedule a sweep now and we’ll get a technician out to you, usually within the same week.

The two terms are used interchangeably. “Sweep” is the traditional name for the process of removing creosote, soot, and debris from your flue. We use professional rotary tools and HEPA vacuums to do it cleanly and thoroughly.
A typical sweep takes 45 minutes to an hour and a half, depending on the condition of the chimney and how long it’s been since the last cleaning.
No. We lay down drop cloths, seal off the firebox opening, and use HEPA vacuum systems designed specifically for chimney work. Our technicians leave your home as clean as they found it.
Yes. Gas log fireplaces don’t produce creosote, but they still need annual inspections to check for debris, ventilation issues, and pilot light operation. We also handle gas log installation and service through our partner company, The Hearthside Shop.
